SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thaioil Ethanol is planning to start up its 132,000 cubic metre (cbm) ethanol joint venture plant at Ubon Ratchathani in northeast Thailand in the fourth quarter of this year, a company source said on Thursday.

“We are expecting to begin commercial production in November-December,” the source said.

Thaioil Ethanol and state majority-owned refining firm Bangchak Petroluem each own a 23% share in the cassava-based plant. The remaining shareholding in the unit could not be immediately confirmed.

Thaioil Ethanol is a wholly owned unit of Thailand-based refining firm Thai Oil.
