HOUSTON (ICIS)--US energy giant ExxonMobil reported flaring from its Baytown olefins complex in Texas, citing a pump seal failure in a public filing available on Thursday.

The pump was isolated and rates were decreased to minimise emissions and flaring, the company said in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

ExxonMobil said there was minimal impact to production.

The company has two crackers in Baytown with a combined 1.2m tonnes/year of capacity. ExxonMobil did not say which unit was affected.

A company spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
