Argentina April chemical production up by 9.1% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s April chemical production was up by 9.1% year on year, industry sources said on Thursday.

Production of basic chemical products was up by 19.8% in April compared with the same month of 2011, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up in April by 6.4% year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was up by 15.4% in April compared with the same month of 2011.

Agrochemicals production declined by 9.8% in April, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 12.8% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products rose in April by 4.3% compared with the same month of 2011.

Meanwhile, plastic products and rubber tyres production combined was down by 0.1% in April year on year. Rubber tyre production declined by 1.1%, while April production of plastic products rose by 0.1% year on year, INDEC said.
