SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’s PETRONAS Chemical Group restarted its 140,000 tonne/year ethylene oxide (EO) and 400,000 tonne/year ethylene glycol (EG) facility on 24 May after three weeks of maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The EO/EG plant, located at Kerteh in Terengganu, was shut on 1 May for scheduled two weeks of maintenance.

However, the restart was one week behind the original plan because of some mechanical problems, the source said.

The company’s two EO’s derivative plants at the same site, including a 75,000 tonne/year ethanolamines unit and a 85,000 tonne/year ethoxylate line, will be restarted by the end of the month, the source added.
