SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Hunan Zhuzhou Chemical plans to shut its 240,000 tonne/year caustic soda plant at Zhuzhou in Hunan province on 27 May for five days of maintenance, a company source said on Friday.

The company is currently running the plant at 90% of capacity, according to the source.

The temporary shutdown of the plant will reduce caustic soda output by 3,000 tonnes, the source said.

The company sells 32% liquid membrane caustic soda at yuan (CNY) 1,000/tonne ($157/tonne) DEL (delivered) within Hunan province and CNY1,050/tonne DEL within Guangdong province, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Zhuzhou Chemical is a key producer of caustic soda in Hunan province.
