SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Jiangsu Sanfangxiang (SFX) has been running its 1.2 m tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant at reduced capacity because of squeezed margins, a company source said on Friday.

All the six 200,000 tonne/year PET lines at the plant are currently operating at around 90% of nameplate capacity, the source said.

There is no immediate plan to ramp up production despite a seasonal peaking of demand for PET bottle grade chips in the summer, the source said.

Sanfangxiang is currently China’s largest PET bottle chip maker.
