SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Huizhou Xingda Petrochemical Industrial Co shut its 180,000 tonne/year EPS plant after a fire broke out at one of its two feedstock styrene tanks on Monday afternoon in Huizhou of Guangdong province.

The tank which caught fire has a capacity to store 3,000 cubic meters (cbm) of styrene.

The fire was brought under control soon after but styrene – about 900 cbm at the time in the tank - needed a few more hours to burn out completely.

There was no immediate report of any casualty and the restart date of the plant was not known yet.
