SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Daoyuan Chemical Fiber Group Co Ltd is planning to shut its 180,000 tonne/year polyester line at Xiaoshan in Zhejiang province for maintenance from 20 June, a company source said on Monday.

The line will be down for 25 days, the source said.

“The [polyester] inventories are up to 21 days, and it was a historical peak in these years. We have to have maintenance to decrease our inventories,” the company source said.

The line mainly produces pre-oriented yarn (POY) and is currently operating at 75% of capacity, the company source said.

The shutdown of the plant also coincides with the annual restrictions on electricity usage of industries in China during the summer months.
