SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) has secured $1bn (€810m) to fund the construction of its 8,000 tonne/year polysilicon plant at Ras Laffan, the company said on Thursday.
The funds secured from Qatari bank Masraf Al Rayan early this week will help QSTec complete its polysilicon plant in northeastern Qatar by mid-2013, the company said in a statement.
The company said it expects to start up the polysilicon plant at the end of next year.
Engineering firm Punj Lioyd Group said in a statement in October last year that it bagged the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for QSTec’s polysilicon plant.
