SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Advanced Biochemical Thailand, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vinythai, restarted its 100,000tonnes/year epichlorohydrin (ECH) plant in Map Ta Phut on 28 May after an extended scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.

The ECH plant is currently running at 50% of its nameplate capacity to ensure that the operations at the facility are smooth, the source added.

The plant was originally taken off line from 22 April to 4 May for maintenance, but the restart was delayed for additional technical checks.

Advanced Biochemical Thailand plans to increase the ECH unit’s operating rates to full capacity by July, the source added, without giving a specific date.

The shutdown had limited impact on ECH supply in this region as the plant was running at reduced rates prior to halting production for the turnaround, said market participants.

But, once the plant resumes full operation, it could result in a substantial increase in ECH supply, they added.
