SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) is planning to cut operating rates at its phenol-acetone plant in Mailiao to 85% capacity from 1 June because of poor demand, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The plant, which has two lines with a combined capacity of 400,000 tonne/year capacity of phenol and 250,000 tonne/year capacity of acetone, will be running at the reduced rate for one month, the source said.

The plant is currently running at full capacity, the source added.
