SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand-based Indorama Ventures Ltd (IVL) plans to start up its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle grade chip lines in Kaiping, China’s Guangdong province, by next week, a company source said on Thursday.

The addition of the company’s new lines, with a total nameplate capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year, will boost its total capacity in Kaiping to around 400,000 tonnes/year.

The company will focus more on the export market after the start-up and slowly expand its base in the domestic market, the source added.

Indorama is the world’s biggest PET producer.
