S Korea’s LG Chem restarts Yeosu phenol-acetone, BPA plants

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--
The phenol-acetone plant and its downstream No 1 and No 2 BPA lines were shut on 26 May because of feedstock propylene supply issues, the source said.
The phenol-acetone plant, which can produce 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone, is currently running at 70%, the source said.
The average operating rate at its 150,000 tonne/year No 1 BPA line and the 150,000 tonne/year No 2 BPA unit is 80% of capacity, the source added.
The brief shutdown at LG Chem’s phenol-acetone and BPA facility is expected to have limited impact on prices because of prevailing weak market conditions, industry sources said.
