Malaysia's Optimal Chemicals restarts butac, NBA/IBA plants

MELBOURNE (ICIS)--?xml:namespace>Malaysia’s Optimal Chemicals (Malaysia) has restarted its butyl acetate (butac) and n-butanol (NBA)/iso-butanol (IBA) plants at Kerteh, Terengganu, following planned maintenance shutdowns, a company official said on Friday.
“The plants were restarted early this week,” the official added.
Optimal’s butac plant has a nameplate capacity of 50,000 tonnes/year, while its NBA/IBA plant has a nameplate capacity of 140,000 tonnes/year.
The plants were shut on 3 May to undergo scheduled overhaul.
Other butac producers in Asia include Korea Alcohol Industrial in South Korea, Jiangmen Handsome Chemical Development in China and Celanese in Singapore.By: Trisha Huang
