SINGAPORE (ICIS)--SABIC has shipped its first consignment of ethanolamines and ethoxylates from its plant in Jubail, making the company the first to market these chemicals in the Middle East, the Saudi petrochemical major said on Saturday.

Further details on the plant were not immediately available.

The first shipment of the chemicals has gone to its customers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, SABIC said in a statement.

“We hope to be a major supplier of solutions for our customers in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding region,” the company’s executive vice president of performance chemicals, Koos Van Haasteren, said.

Ethoxylates are surfactants used in the production of detergents and household cleaning products.  Ethanolamines, derived from ammonia and ethylene oxide (EO), are used in chemical intermediates and industrial processes.
