China’s Fujian Southeast Electrochemical shuts caustic soda unit

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fujian Southeast Electrochemical has shut its 130,000 dry metric tonne (dmt)/year caustic soda plant at Meizhouwan in Fujian province for a week of maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

The producer expects to restart the plant on 13 June, the source said, adding that the plant was operating at 80%-90% of capacity before the shutdown.

The producer will offer 32% liquid membrane caustic soda at yuan (CNY) 1,050-1,065/tonne ($165-$167/tonne) DEL (delivered) and 50% liquid membrane caustic soda at CNY1,620-1,660/tonne DEL during the maintenance period, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Fujian Southeast Electrochemical is a key caustic soda producer in Fujian province. Most of its products are sold to Guangdong and Fujian province.
