SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Daqing Petrochemical, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sinopec, has completed the construction of its 80,000 tonne/year butadiene rubber (BR) plant at Daqing in Heilongjiang province, a company source said on Wednesday.

Construction work at the yuan (CNY) 1.1bn ($173m) project was completed at end-May, the source said, adding that the company has not yet confirmed the date for conducting trial runs at the plant.

Feedstock for the BR plant will be supplied by the company’s butadiene (BD) production, which will help to ease its BD oversupply, a market player said.

The producer has an existing 80,000 tonne/year BR plant at the same site.
