LONDON (ICIS)--Dow Corning has officially opened its €30m ($37.5m) European distribution centre in Feluy, Belgium, the US silicone products supplier said on Wednesday.

Dow Corning said the centre will further expand its materials delivery capabilities and will enhance its service for customers throughout Europe, the Middle East, south Asia and Africa.

The 32,000sqm facility was completed in January and took 15 months to construct.

“The additional investment in a new distribution centre demonstrates Europe’s strategic importance for the corporation. It enables us to further address the specialised needs of our customers in large and sustainable growth markets such as renewable energy generation, energy conservation, transportation, electronics, and more,” said regional president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Klaus Hoffmann.

The company said that the centre is one of several investments aimed at further expanding its European network and supporting future growth in the region.

In January, Dow Corning completed construction of its new solar energy exploration and development (SEED) centre to promote and advance applied and fundamental research in solar cell development and novel silicon-based materials.
