TORONTO (ICIS)--A small fire on Wednesday morning at NOVA Chemicals’s Corunna petrochemicals site near Sarnia in southern Ontario did not affect production and there were no injuries, a company spokesman said.

“We had a very small fire at a process unit at our Corunna site, but it was quickly extinguished, there were no injuries, no off-site impacts and production was not affected,” Pace Markowitz told ICIS.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, he added.

NOVA fire crews responded quickly to extinguish the fire and an “all clear” was issued shortly afterwards, a local fire alert service reported.

NOVA has a cracker and downstream chemical production plants at Corunna, where it employs a staff of about 500 people, according to information on its website.
