LONDON (ICIS)--Air Liquide is in exclusive negotiations to acquire control of the French activities of home healthcare provider LVL Medical, the Paris-based industrial and specialty gases major said on Friday.

The enterprise value of  LVL Medical's French activities is €316m ($400m), Air Liquide said. LVL Medical’s business in Germany is not part of the planned deal, it added.

LVL Medical serves about 50,000 patients at their homes in France, where the Lyon-based company employs a staff of 750 and had sales of €104m last year.

“This acquisition is in line with Air Liquide’s external growth strategy in healthcare,” said Pascal Vinet, vice president of Air Liquide’s global healthcare operations.

“Health is one of the growth drivers of the [Air Liquide] group,” he added.
