HOUSTON (ICIS)--US paraffin wax (p-wax) imports in April decreased 17% from March, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.

US p-wax imports fell to 20,698 tonnes in April from 24,796 tonnes in March.

Imports fell in April mainly because of decreased product brought in from China.

China at 8,916 tonnes was the major source of US p-wax imports, followed by Canada at 2,825 tonnes and Greece at 1,691 tonnes.

Other sources included Germany, Taiwan, the Netherlands, India, Malaysia, Japan and Cote d' Ivoire.

The US exported 5,422 tonnes of p-wax in April, up from 3,645 tonnes in March.
