US urea imports rose to 824,931 tonnes in April from 650,653 tonnes in March.
Imports rose in April mainly because of strong demand from the agricultural sector.
April imports also increased from 526,146 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Canada at 196,863 tonnes was the major source of US urea imports, followed by Oman at 123,303 tonnes and Venezuela at 91,399 tonnes.
Other sources included Russia, Kuwait, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Trinidad and Tobago and Malaysia.
