HOUSTON (ICIS)--Heinz Haller will take over as president of Dow Europe, Middle East and Africa on 1 August, the US-based chemicals major said on Tuesday.

He succeeds Geoffery Merszei, who plans to retire in early 2013, Dow Chemical said.

Haller will retain his position as Dow Chemical executive vice president and chief commercial officer, to which he was appointed in 2010.

Dow also said that Jim Fitterling, executive vice president of Dow and president of feedstocks, energy and corporate development, will assume executive oversight for Dow's presence in the Asia Pacific and Latin American regions.

Bill Weideman, executive vice president and chief financial officer, will assume executive oversight for Dow AgroSciences, the company said.
