SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s adipic acid (ADA) producer Asahi Kasei restarted its 120,000 tonne/year plant at Nobeoka in Miyazaki prefecture on 12 June after a one-month turnaround, a company source said on Wednesday.

“The plant was restarted yesterday. The operating rate is only 60-70% now but it will increase to the full rate in a few days,” the source said.

The plant was shut down on 12 May for the scheduled turnaround, the source said.

ADA is primarily used in the production of nylon 6,6 (or polyamide 6,6), as well as in the manufacturing of polyurethane, which is used in the soles of shoes and in polyester resins.
