China’s Shandong Hualu-Hengsheng runs new ADA line at around 100%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)-- China’s Shandong Hualu-Hengsheng Chemical is running its new 80,000 tonne/year No 2 adipic acid (ADA) line at Dezhou at around full capacity after starting it up in early June, a company source said on Wednesday.

“The second line is running at nearly full rate now after on-spec production was achieved last week,” the source said.

The company operates a 160,000 tonne/year ADA plant, which has two 80,000 tonne/year lines, at Dezhou in China’s eastern Shandong province.

The No 1 line was started up in early March this year and is operating at full capacity, according to the source.

“The daily output from the two lines is around 440 tonnes,” the source added.

ADA is primarily used in the production of nylon 6,6 (polyamide 6,6), as well as in the manufacturing of polyurethane, which is used in shoe soles and in polyester resins.
