SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Huaxing shut its 80,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit at Dongying in Shandong province for 30 days of maintenance on 15 June, a company source said on Friday.

The unit can produce 4,000 tonnes/month of SM and is usually run at 60% of full capacity.

Contract and spot supply from the plant will be reduced during the shutdown, the company source said.

However, tight supply will not put pressure on prices to rise because of the weak demand in northern China, market sources said.
