SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) plans to restart its 350,000 tonne/year No 2 styrene monomer (SM) plant at Mailiao in early July, a company source said on Tuesday.

The plant was shut on 9 June because of a technical issue, the source said.

The company is still supplying long-term cargoes during the shutdown period, but spot cargoes from the unit are no longer available, the source added.

FCFC operates two more SM plants at Mailiao that can produce 250,000 tonnes/year and 600,000 tonnes/year of SM, respectively.

Both plants are operating at full rates, according to the source.
