HOUSTON (ICIS)--Jacobs has won a contract from Chevron Phillips Chemical (CP Chem) for work on two planned polyethylene (PE) facilities in Texas, the US-based petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Jacobs said that the PE plants will be part of CP Chem's US Gulf coast petrochemicals project at Old Ocean, Texas, near CP Chem's Sweeny facility.

Jacobs's contract includes front-end engineering and design (FEED) services for the PE plants, it said. It did not comment on financial details or capacities.

CP Chem, which announced the PE projects in April, has said each of the plants will have a capacity of 500,000 tonnes/year, with start-up expected in 2017.
