SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fuxiang Chemical plans to produce oil-extended grade styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) 1712 in July, a company source said on Wednesday.

“We failed to produce oil-extended grade SBR 1712 in June because of a lack of feedstock rubber oil,” the source said without providing further details on the feedstock supply.

“We may produce it in July when feedstock is ready,” the source added

The plant is operating at 70-80% of capacity and producing non-oil grade SBR 1502 in June. If the plant produces oil-extended grade SBR 1712 in July, the output of non-oil grade SBR 1502 may be reduced, the source said.

Oil-extended SBR 1712 prices in east China stood at CNY15,800-16,000/tonne ($2,484-2,516/tonne) on 19 June, up by CNY400-500/tonne from early June, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Supply has been short since YPC-GPRO (Nanjing) Rubber cut its production of oil-extended SBR1712 in early June and this pushed prices of the grade up, according to market sources.

($1 = CNY6.36)
