SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s largest refiner, JX Nippon Oil & Energy, has prolonged an ongoing maintenance shutdown at its No 1 fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) in Negishi until around end-June, a company source said on Thursday.

The FCC was shut as scheduled for a turnaround on 18 May and was initially scheduled to resume operations on 20 June, he said.

The prolonged FCC shutdown is linked to delays in restarting the refinery at the site but the source did not provide details.

The No 1 FCC can produce around 85,000 tonnes/year of propylene.

JX Nippon Oil also runs a No 2 residual FCC (RFCC) at Negishi with the same propylene capacity.
