China’s Sinochem Jilin Changshan to double urea, ammonia capacity

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinochem Jilin Changshan Chemical plans to double its ammonia and urea capacities by the middle of 2014, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Sinochem Jilin Changshan Chemical received approval from its parent company, Sinochem Group, on 14 June to double its ammonia and urea capacities to 360,000 tonnes/year and 600,000 tonnes/year respectively, according to the statement.

Sinochem Jilin Changshan Chemical has a 180,000 tonne/year ammonia plant and a 300,000 tonne/year urea plant, both located at Songyuan city in Jilin province, north China, according to the company’s website.  

The expansion work, which will cost yuan (CNY) 1.2bn ($189m), is expected to be completed by the middle of 2014, it added.
