HOUSTON (ICIS)--Eastman Chemical reported flaring from its Longview complex in Texas in a public filing on Thursday, citing a faulty level transmitter which resulted in the overflow of a surge tank.

A pump was used to lower the level in the surge tank to stop the overflow into the flare stack, Eastman said in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

The event had no impact on production, a company spokesperson said.

Eastman has two crackers in Longview with 141,000 tonnes/year of ethylene capacity and a larger unit with 358,000 tonnes/year.
