SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan's Mitsui Chemicals will reduce the operating rate at its phenol/acetone plant at Jurong Island in Singapore to 70% of capacity on 1 July because of current weak market conditions, a company source said on Friday.

The plant, with a nameplate capacity of 310,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 186,000 tonnes/year of acetone, will be running at the reduced rate until 31 July, the source said.

The plant is currently running at 100% of capacity, the source added.
