SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Baling Petrochemical is running its new 120,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) plant at Yueyang city, Hunan province, at a low operating rate, a company source said on Monday.
The plant achieved on-spec product output on 23 June following start-up on 18 June, but is currently running the new facility at a low production rate.
The project was approved in 2009 with an investment of yuan (CNY) 496m ($78m). Construction started in August 2010, according to Chinese oil and gas major Sinopec.
Sinopec is the parent company of Baling Petrochemical.
