SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Xinjiang Markor Chemical is planning to shut down its 60,000 tonne/year butanediol (BDO) plant in northwestern Xinjiang province in early July for maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.

“The plant will shut down in early July for around 20 days,” the source said.

It is a scheduled turnaround to do some preparation work before the arrival of winter in Xinjiang, which usually starts in October.

However, most market participants said the shutdown will not have big impact on the supply because of weak demand prevailing for the last two months.
