SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Panjin Longguang Chemical, a subsidiary of Taiwan’s Loyal Group, started up its new 150,000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene (EPS) plant in Panjin, Liaoning province, on 27 June, a company source confirmed on Thursday.

Construction of the plant began in February 2011, with the unit just entering a test run at a low operation rate, the source added.

The unit is petrochemical manufactuer Loyal Group’s sixth EPS plant in China, and the first in the country’s northeast region.

The addition of the new plant has increased Loyal Group’s domestic Chinese EPS output to 1.84m tonnes/year.
