HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butadiene (BD) production in May totalled 216m lb (97,976 tonnes), a 19% drop from 268m lb produced in the same month in 2011, consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy said on Thursday.
BD production in May fell by 4% by volume compared with 225m lb in April, but dropped by 7.1% if output is measured on a daily rate, the group said in its monthly Hodson report.
US crackers operated at 83.6% of capacity in May. The figure is down from a revised 86.5% in April and 87.1 % in May 2011, the report showed.
