SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Jilin Petrochemical’s aromatics aromatics unit in northeastern China has been shut since 24 May for maintenance, and is expected to restart next month, a company source said on Friday.

The maintenance is expected to last more than the original plan of 40 days, the source said.

The company’s aromatics unit in Jilin province can produce 240,000 tonnes/year of benzene; 120,000 tonnes/year of toluene, and; 100,000 tonnes/year of xylenes, according to the source.

The impact of the shutdown is limited amid weak downstream demand in northeastern China, a local trader said in Mandarin.
