SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) has started the process of shutting its 400,000 tonne/year I-4 No 2 ethane cracker at Map Ta Phut for two weeks of maintenance on Friday, a company source said.

The shutdown is meant to address technical issues at the plant.

Separately, PTTGC’s 515,000 tonne/year mixed-feed I-4 No 1 cracker at the same site is still running at a reduced rate of below 80% because of technical problems.

It has not been decided yet if the plant will be shut for repairs, the source said.

The company also operates two other ethane crackers at Map Ta Phut with a combined ethylene nameplate capacity of 1.46m tonnes/year.
