SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s OCI Chemical is currently running its 80,000 tonne/year phthalic anhydride (PA) plant in Pohang at half its capacity because of weak demand, a company source said on Friday.

The plant will be kept running at this reduced operating rate indefinitely, the source said.

Current output from the plant is being supplied for captive use of OCI Chem’s downstream dioctyl phthalate (DOP) and di-isononyl phthalate (DINP) plants, as well as to the domestic market, the source said.
