SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s JX Nippon Oil and Energy has lowered the operating rates at its 460,000 tonne/year naphtha cracker at Kawasaki to 85-90% of capacity this week from 95-100% previously, as it needs to reduce ethylene supplies to a derivative customer, a company source said on Wednesday.
The cracker is expected to run at reduced rates until mid-July, the source said, without providing further details on the problem at a downstream facility.
The cracker is still scheduled to shut for maintenance from 10 August to 27 September this year.
