US KBR wins contract for DuPont’s first cellulosic ethanol plant

HOUSTON (ICIS)--KBR won an engineering and procurement contract for DuPont’s cellulosic ethanol plant in Nevada, Iowa, the US engineering company said on Thursday.

The ethanol plant will have the capacity of produce 27.5m gal of ethanol/year from corn stover, KBR said.

KBR said groundbreaking for the facility will take place in the second half of 2012, with a 12-18 month construction period.

DuPont said in May that US-based industrial contractor Fagen would manage the project, which would serve primarily to demonstrate the feasibility of DuPont's new cellulosic technology. DuPont plans to license its technology to other companies.
