BRISBANE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) is planning to shut its 51,000 tonne/year methyl methacrylate (MMA) plant at Niigata in early October for a 40-day maintenance shutdown, a company source said on Friday.

The turnaround is likely to be completed around the middle of November, he added.

MMA is used to produce polymethyl MMA (PMMA) polymer, cast sheets and acrylic resins for coatings and emulsions.
