S Korea’s Honam Petrochemical buys 50,000 tonnes August naphtha

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korea’s Honam Petrochemical bought via a tender on Monday afternoon 50,000 tonnes of open-spec naphtha for August delivery, industry players said.

The buyer booked a 25,000-tonne cargo for second-half August delivery to Yeosu, and another similar-sized cargo to Daesan, traders said.

The South Korean company purchased the cargoes at a premium of $4.00-4.50/tonne (€3.28-3.69/tonne) to Japan quotes CFR (cost and freight), they added.

Honam Petrochemical last purchased 50,000 tonnes of open-spec naphtha for first-half August arrival on 5 July at premiums of $2.00-4.00/tonne.
