Japan’s ethylene production down 6.4% in June

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of ethylene fell by 6.4% to 460,800 tonnes in June from May, official data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) showed on Monday.

Production was down 12% year on year, based on the ministry’s preliminary report.

Two naphtha crackers were shut for maintenance in June, while two crackers were undergoing turnarounds in May, according to the minsitry.

Two ethylene plants were shut for maintenance in June 2011, the data showed.
