LONDON (ICIS)--WR Grace has acquired Brazil-based concrete admixtures manufacturer Rheoset Industria e Comercio de Aditivos (Rheoset) for an undisclosed fee, the US-based catalysts and specialty chemicals firm said on Monday.

The company said the acquisition of Rheoset will give it additional manufacturing capacity in Rio de Janeiro and Recife, Brazil. Grace has existing operations in Sorocaba and Bahia.

“The acquisition will accelerate the pace of product and technology development, enabling the more rapid creation of new customer solutions and new value in this segment,” said Craig Merrill, vice president and general manager in the Americas for Grace Construction Products, a segment of Grace.

Andrew Bonham, president of Grace Construction Products, said: “This acquisition is part of Grace's strategy of growth in high margin segments, investing in manufacturing capacity to serve emerging regions and extending the Grace brand in our core business segments.”

Concrete admixtures are used to improve the performance of concrete and contribute to longer lasting structures.
