SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Guangzhou Petrochemical plans to shut its 60,000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) line in Guangdong province on 15 July for about 15 days of scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.
Currently, the PS inventory levels of the producer are low because traders were actively making purchases during the last two weeks amid a bullish market, the source added.
PS prices in south China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 10,900-11,400/tonne ($1,711-1,790/tonne) for the week ended 6 July, up by CNY400-450/tonne from the previous week, according to ICIS data.
The shutdown will have little impact on the PS market as the plant’s capacity is small, a local distributer said.($1 = CNY6.37)
