HOUSTON (ICIS)--Fluor has won a contract for work to replace 24 tanks at Sasol’s Secunda coal-to-liquids (CTL) complex in South Africa, the US-based petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Fluor said that the contract includes engineering, procurement and construction management services for the replacement of 24 duplex stainless steel separator tanks.

Construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012, with completion targeted by mid 2015, Fluor said without disclosing financial terms.

The purpose of the gas liquor separation units is to separate various gaseous, liquid and solid components from gas liquor streams that originate in the gasification, gas cooling, rectisol and phenosolvan units at Sasol’s Secunda CTL complex, Fluor said.

Fluor added that the tar separators feed all four production phases at Secunda.
