MIAMI, Florida (ICIS)--US phthalic anhydride (PA) July contracts have decreased by 4 cents/lb ($88/tonne, €71/tonne), following the drop in the ?xml:namespace>
The July contract for molten-grade PA was assessed by ICIS at 80-87 cents/lb, while flake-grade was assessed at 81-88 cents/lb.
PA contracts typically reflect the previous month’s OX price, which was settled at 64 cents/lb in June, down by 4 cents/lb from May.
PA is a key intermediate in the production of plasticisers, which are used to make products such as flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
Major US PA producers include BASF, Koppers, and Stepan.
