SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) has raised its August benchmark offers for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) by $50/tonne (€42/tonne) from its July offers amid higher feedstock ethylene and crude oil prices, a company source said on Wednesday.

Offers for August shipments are up by $50/tonne at $920/tonne CFR (cost & freight) CMP (China Main Port) and $940/tonne CFR India, the source said.

Similarly, the producer’s August export offers to its deep-sea markets, such as the Middle East, are up by $50/tonne at $870/tonne FOB (free on board) Taiwan.

A quantity discount of $10/tonne is applicable for volumes of 500 tonnes, industry sources said.

Increased buying activity from customers who considered prices to have bottomed out in July is also a driving factor behind the hike in August offers, according to the source.
